Who We Are
The Alabama Public Employees’ Action League is a statewide association representing state, county, city, and public board employees on a wide variety of issues important to them, and we work to ensure that promised pension and health insurance benefits are available when our members decide to retire.
APEAL and its sister organization, the Alabama Retired State Employees’ Association, represent a combined membership of more than 20,500 active and retired public employees.
Because of its strong membership and active political action committee, APEAL and ARSEA are considered to be among the most influential and respected groups representing the causes and concerns of active and retired public employees in Alabama.
A First Step Toward Planning and Protecting Your Retirement
Because of our unique relationship with ARSEA, joining APEAL is often considered the first step toward preparing for retirement. Choosing the proper retirement date is among the most crucial decisions you can make, and APEAL stands ready to assist you throughout the planning process by providing advice, checklists and other materials.
You are in a unique position with unique needs. In essence, you must keep one eye on the present and one eye on your future. The best way to protect and shield your future benefits is through the joint lobbying efforts of ARSEA and APEAL because we keep you abreast of potentially adverse changes and developments affecting your upcoming retirement, and we work hard on your behalf to prevent them.
Joining APEAL is the smartest way to secure your future now, and when you do retire, you can seamlessly transfer to ARSEA to continue your protection into your golden years.
